The Douglas Hotel

Our ferry was unexpectedly cancelled after a day of walking on Arran, so we needed somewhere at short notice. We managed to get a room at the Douglas Hotel, and the convenient spot for ferry travel came in handy. The staff welcomed us and helped make a stressful change of plans much easier. The room was clean, comfortable and well equipped, just what we needed to relax after being outdoors all day. The hotel had a lovely atmosphere, and the unplanned night turned into a really pleasant stay. We were impressed with the service and quality, and would happily book again if we return to Arran.

The Douglas Hotel felt comfortable and well cared for, with a relaxed, warm atmosphere and beautiful surroundings that show Arran at its best. The staff were genuinely friendly and welcoming, and did everything they could to help from the moment we arrived. We’d happily stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting the island.

After a long hike, this was a lovely spot to stop for a well-earned drink. The views are amazing, and there’s plenty of clean seating indoors and outside. The staff were extremely friendly, the service was excellent, and the location was great. Highly recommend.

We stayed in an accessible room. The bathroom was enormous, with lots of grab bars to help someone get in and out of the bath, but there’s no separate shower stall for anyone who can’t use a bath. The rooms, linen and towels were clean, the food was extremely good, and there was a varied drinks selection. I also appreciated how much they support local producers for both food and drink. The hotel is lovely, right by the ferry terminal and very central on the island. All the staff were courteous and helpful.
