Taigh Chailean, Isle of Lewis

Marion came over in the morning and made us the best breakfast ever. She was so kind and welcoming. Our family of four had the place to ourselves for a two-night stopover, and what a treat: high-spec accommodation, amazing views, and a great base for travelling around the island. We even fitted in a family horse ride on one of the amazing beaches. It’s the best place we’ve stayed.

The views of the island from the windows were simply breathtaking. Sheep were our neighbours, peacefully grazing in their pastures. You couldn’t ask for a more perfect location. Those views!

Glorious views come with a great location for exploring both the north and south of the island. We had a wonderful stay and would definitely recommend it to anyone planning a trip to Lewis.

The breakfast room looks out over Loch Eniscort and green pastures where sheep graze, and the place is very quiet. Marian welcomed us warmly at Taigh Caillan "eleven" when we arrived towards evening, then showed us to a beautiful room with an adjoining bathroom. She treated us to a fine breakfast and made plenty of time for lively, humorous conversation. There are lots of books to help you get to know the islands and everything connected with them. Many of the islands’ treasures are close by, and Stornoway is only about 20 minutes away.
