Eilean Iarmain

The real highlight was how welcome all three of us felt, including Saoirse. She had her own welcome pack with a bed, water dish, ball and treats, and we were both treated like VIPs. Matti and Colin had already been excellent over the phone, and when bad weather and an unexpected detour made us arrive much later than planned on Friday, Colin greeted us warmly and surprised us with an upgrade. Our room was lovely, warm and comfortable. We ate in the bar both nights so Saoirse could join us, and the food and service were exceptional. Breakfast was just as good, served both mornings in a beautiful lounge overlooking the water. We stayed November 28-30 for my wife's birthday, and Hotel Eilean Iarmain went beyond what we expected. It's a magical hotel on a magical island, and a great base for exploring the Isle of Skye. If we come back, this will be the first place we try to book. Thank you.

The building has a real sense of history, with old-style decor and some amazing pictures on the walls. We had a big bed and a spacious bathroom, and breakfast was amazing. The staff and atmosphere were very friendly and welcoming. The hotel sits beside lovely views over the hills and waterfront, and the scenery on the drive in and out is beautiful too. Well worth a visit.

We loved the setting and the comfortable rooms and shared spaces, all with loads of character. Matti at reception was especially warm and friendly, and the staff really went out of their way to make the visit enjoyable. The cozy bar is a meeting spot for people from the village. We'll be back for a whisky by the fire!

The people here made a difficult few moments much easier. I arrived needing something from a pharmacy, with no nearby supermarket, and the housekeeper kindly provided it. When I got hungry between chef shifts and the kitchen wasn't serving, a staff member made me something without charging me. I hadn't packed for the cold either, so they lent me a hat and offered a warm jacket. On my weekend checkout, there were no buses and taxis cost a lot, but the receptionist offered to drive me to the ferry, about 20 minutes away, early in the morning. The cozy feel comes from the interior, the fireplace and the warmth between people, especially when everyone gathers in the bar at night. My room was better than I expected from a three-star hotel, with plenty of towels and quality toiletries. As a solo traveller, I found the room and bed just the right size.
