Glenarroch

I had mixed feelings about this stay. We were in the Witchwood cottage building, so I can only speak to that experience. The rooms were smaller than I expected, including the ceiling height. When booking, we weren’t told that the top two rooms shared an outside communal bathroom. We weren’t in those rooms, but were on the floor where the bathroom was. The walls are very thin, and I was kept awake most of the night by the noise of people upstairs using the toilet and shutting the door. It was loud every time. People staying in the house also had a bad habit of leaving the front door unlocked, which made the place feel insecure. The bed was comfortable, but the pillows were much too soft for me. The rest of the room was pleasant enough, with free milk, tea, and coffee, a kettle, and a smart TV. The en-suite bathroom was okay, though the shower needs modernising and a better clean. There seemed to be quite a bit of limescale or possibly mould on it. We were also told the room had a "sea view," but the huge garden trees blocked it. The free breakfast was a nice touch, and I really enjoyed it the next morning. Staff in the main building were very friendly and kind, and helpful with breakfast and check-in. I wouldn’t recommend a long stay, since I think anyone who isn’t a very heavy sleeper will struggle to rest. I’m not sure I’d come back.
