The cottage was clean and lovely, and about a 10-minute drive from Portree. It was a good location if you have a car, but without one you’ll need taxis, and they aren’t always easy to get. The app they provide seems to have all the information you need. I’m usually reluctant to leave a negative review, but this stay was hard to recommend. We arrived during a heat wave and the cottage was like an oven. There were no fans, and leaving the windows open meant being swarmed by bugs, so it was nearly impossible to sleep. We tried reaching the property managers four times, twice by text, once by phone, and once by email, asking whether they had any fans, and got no response. As someone who works in travel, I find completely ignoring guests unacceptable. Even if everything else had been perfect, the lack of any reply would stop me recommending it. I’m glad the problem was only the heat and not something more serious, but not being able to contact the owners is still a major issue. If nothing goes wrong, it’s fine. If you do have a problem, not being able to reach the owner is a big one.

The kids loved the cottage, and we enjoyed our stay and would come back. We had clean, tidy rooms, towels and bedsheets were provided, and there was hand sanitiser in the hall and soap in the bathroom. The broadband and Wi-Fi were great and really fast. A TV with streaming services like iPlayer and 4oD would have been better, since the choice of channels is limited with terrestrial reception. There were a few little maintenance issues, including a missing bathroom handle and a couple of other minor things. The bar code in the lounge no longer works. Loch Eyre cottage has great views over the bay, with sunsets from the lounge. It’s close enough to Portree but far enough out to feel away from town, and it’s very quiet at night. Thanks!

Very good internet and comfortable beds, but the cottage is lovely and really small. Four of us were squeezed into the kitchen. We found a tray of burnt chips left in the oven on arrival, which made the claim that the place was Covid secure and sanitised hard to believe.
