Skye Basecamp - Hostel

The kitchen has everything you need, and the rooms are brilliant too. This hostel feels like it was made for people who love the outdoors, with a really warm, wholesome atmosphere throughout the building and among the community. The staff were fantastic, and there was a lovely friendly dog as well. I’d definitely stay again.

My room was spotless, tidy, and matched the photos exactly, which was a pleasant surprise. I also made good use of the laundry and enjoyed the pool table in the common area. The staff were consistently kind and helpful, and the place felt even more welcoming thanks to Cleodi, the gentle, sweet Basecamp mascot. The woman who checked us in was so friendly and greeted us in Portuguese, which I wasn’t expecting. I’m sorry I can’t remember her name. I’d happily stay again and recommend it to anyone visiting.

The sea view from my room was incredible, and the staff member who welcomed me kindly showed me around. I was only there for a quick overnight stay and didn’t spend much time at the place. It’s good value, with shared toilets and showers. You can hear everything, though, so as a light sleeper I’d suggest bringing earplugs. Thanks for having me, it was a good stay.

The toilets are out in the corridor, but the place still felt really homely. I stayed one night and found everyone working there so welcoming. The lounge and kitchen are great, the showers are very spacious, and the boot drying rack was a huge help after hiking with wet boots. The Skye Basecamp dog is awesome!
