The Stable - The Cottages at Blackadon Farm

We had a week-long family holiday with 43 people, and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. Michael and Nicola were helpful from the time we booked, almost a year ahead, and especially while we were there. The cottages were very clean and well equipped. We cooked together in the main upper barn kitchen, which had enough crockery for everyone. The kids loved the goats and donkeys on site, as well as the games room. There are nearby outings for all ages. Bigbury Beach is a must for a great day out, and there’s also Babbacombe and Hawtor Rocks. The Hive has lots of resources for ideas, and walking trails lead straight from the site, which were great for morning walks. We liked the bench overlooking the moors near the firepit. We don’t have dogs, but the dog shower was handy for washing sandy feet and beach toys. The drying room is massive and useful for wet shoes and laundry. This is the best large cottage accommodation we’ve stayed in as a family, and we’re already looking forward to coming back.

The moor is right on your doorstep, and the location is amazing. The accommodation is beautiful and the beds are incredibly comfy. Michael and Nicola were welcoming and helpful before our stay and while we were there. A truly wonderful place, especially if you have a dog, with a shower to clean them off after a walk.

Blackadon Farm was spotless and had everything we needed, plus more. We were impressed by the attention to detail, and our dog loved all the unexpected treats. The dog shower looked great, though we didn’t need to use it. My daughter loved meeting the donkeys and goats. It’s a brilliant base for exploring Dartmoor and beyond, and I’m sure we’ll be back.

There was plenty of space for everyone, the beds were super comfy, and the accommodation was beautiful and well equipped. It’s a great place for a large gathering, and we had a lovely time. The only drawback was checkout: we had to leave the upper and lower barn by 9am and were asked to strip the beds and empty the bins. That seemed very early. Even a 10am checkout would have made the last day more relaxing.
