The Lynnhurst Hotel

The staff were very welcoming, and the continental breakfast was okay, though pretty standard with limited choice. We stayed in winter and found the room very cold. The heating only came on at certain times and didn’t make much difference. There were also quite a few planes passing overhead on their way to the airport, which was noisy, though that’s understandable given the location.

The bar doubles as the breakfast room, and it’s warm and welcoming. The evening menu portions were enormous. My bedroom was spacious and incredibly clean, with a very comfy bed that made for a sound, comfortable sleep. I thoroughly enjoyed my overnight stay, and the staff were incredibly friendly, kind, and accommodating. 10/10, recommend.

We were a table of six, out for a delayed birthday Sunday dinner. Our server was welcoming and really helpful, and everyone else enjoyed their choices: haggis spring rolls, chicken tempura, cauliflower bao bun, steak pie, beef burger, macaron and Katsu Curry. The bao bun could’ve used some sauce, and the curry sauce was bland. I ordered haddock croquettes, which I’d describe more as small bon bons. They tasted good but weren’t very warm, and the plate was small. The Cajun chicken burger was the biggest disappointment. It was a plain, flavourless chicken breast, with equally flavourless peri peri mayonnaise. I gave feedback about it when paying. No one checked back after the mains arrived. The only roast left when we arrived for our 4:45pm booking was ham, which disappointed us as we hadn’t expected it to sell out so early in the evening service. A very mixed experience. The food seems good if you avoid anything spiced. The Cajun burger had no seasoning at all, and the curry was under-spiced, so I wouldn’t order the spiced dishes if they’re prepared this way.

Breakfast was great, but I couldn’t get a receipt for the room cost at checkout because I’d paid through booking.com. That leaves me out of pocket when claiming my business trip costs. The hotel itself was lovely, though the room was uncomfortably warm and the bed and pillows were very hard.
