Cross Keys Hotel

The staff were fantastic, friendly and very helpful, and the location is great. There’s no parking on site, but plenty very nearby. The rooms are a bit tired, and I had to bleed the radiator, handy that I carry a key for old hotels! Breakfast was nice, but the food at the dinner dance wasn’t to my taste, or to many others at our table. The entertainment, though, was top notch.

I stay here regularly for work and honestly wouldn’t choose anywhere else. The staff are brilliant, always friendly and happy to help, and the food and atmosphere make the place stand out. It’s great value and works perfectly as a base, with the centre, restaurants and shops all a short walk away. The hotel is older and hasn’t had a flashy modern refurb, but it’s spotless, comfortable and full of character. There are plenty of pubs with rooms and other hotels around, yet the service here is genuinely great. Kelso is a beautiful, welcoming town with stunning views, and working for a Borders company has shown me how special the area is. If you’ve got Roxburghe Hall money, go for it, but for somewhere close to everything you need, this is the place.

We had two wonderful nights in this friendly hotel. The room was quiet, clean and very comfortable, and there was a very good choice at breakfast. We’re looking forward to coming back for another weekend soon.

I went for a meal with four friends, and we all chose the carvery. We couldn’t fault the food or the chef, but one waitress was very rude. I told her that the way she spoke to me wasn’t how a paying customer should be treated, but she kept up the bad attitude. The young waiter and waitress were both polite and friendly.
