Plough Hotel

The rooms were spacious and comfortable, and the food was tasty. It’s in a lovely spot, very handy for the Pennine way. The downside was loud music and drinking downstairs until about 2 am.

The staff were brilliant, friendly, and helpful, and the food was tasty, plentiful, and well cooked. Breakfast was superb and kept us going all day. This is a very old pub and hotel, so don’t expect a new building. I found it clean and functional, with a well-sized room and the essentials. It’s been renovated well while keeping its history. All in all, a great stay, and I’d come back.

I stayed at the Plough Hotel on a recent business trip to meet new clients, and it was a pleasant surprise. The staff were attentive, and check-in was easy and stress-free. My room had plenty of space to relax or get some work done in the evenings. I also appreciated the remote, quiet setting, which let me unwind after busy days and recharge without city noise or the usual distractions. It struck a good balance between comfort and practicality for work travel.

We were impressed by the rooms, which felt comfortable and homely. The pub had a relaxed, welcoming atmosphere, and the staff were extremely friendly. Dinner was delicious, and breakfast the next morning was cooked to order and just as good. We stayed one night while walking St Cuthberts way, and couldn’t recommend it more.
