Everything was straightforward, and the parking was great. It’s a good value stop, with facilities that match the price and do the job. The bedding needs attention, though. There were stains and hairs on the sheets or covers, and the cleaning team should do better at replacing stained ones. Management should know. If you’re heading north, you’ll need to drive another 8-10 miles south to make a U-turn, so plan ahead if you’re in a hurry in the morning. It’s a handy stop whether you’re travelling north or south.
The services beside Killington Lake are really pretty, especially in good weather. Check in was easy, and the reception staff were lovely and welcoming. There’s no restaurant in the hotel, but McDonald’s, a Costa Coffee and a WHSmith are right next door. The hotel sells £7.50 vouchers that give you £10 to spend at either McDonald’s or Costa. I bought two, which worked well for an evening meal and a warm breakfast before leaving. You’re not tied to a set meal time, and can eat in your room if you like. It worked well for me, and I’d probably book a Days Inn again for that reason. I was heading north on the M6 on my way home from my son’s and used this Days Inn. I got the junction 37 route wrong, and my sat nav sent me along some very dodgy roads to the little village of Killington, which has about three houses. I corrected that and found the right place. There’s plenty of free parking, but you need to enter your registration on the reception touchscreen. It’s simple enough. The bedrooms are dated and could use a refurb, and there was a loose panel in the bathroom. Still, it was very clean and comfortable, especially for the £39.00 I paid. It did the job as an economical, clean and comfortable stop, and the meal options were a great alternative. I’d definitely stay again. Special thanks to the lovely receptionist who made check in easy and stress free.
We stayed in room 3A, and the first thing that hit us when we opened the door was a strong mouldy, damp smell. The room felt very tired and needs renovation. The bed was hard and uncomfortable, and doors slamming kept disturbing us all night. £45 for the night wasn’t bad value, but I’d feel massively ripped off if I’d paid any more.
The receptionists were very pleasant, and the room was clean and presentable, though the furniture wasn’t top quality. The beds were perfectly acceptable, and the bathroom was clean and functional. We’ll be back later this year.
A perfectly acceptable travel style hotel, and just the job for a night or two. The rooms are a little worn, but the service was excellent and the staff very friendly. It’s at motorway services, so simple food options are right next door. All the rooms are dog friendly.
