Lilymere Boat House

The views were incredible, and watching the ducks and ducklings was a treat. We spent four nights at this amazing boathouse and needed some R&R, which it was perfect for. We were lucky with the May weather, though I imagine the view would be fab in the rain too. The bed was really comfortable, and we could roam the estate grounds and spot wildlife. It's well placed for day trips to Kendal and the Lake District. We even got to dream about winning the lottery to buy the lovely big house on the estate. A few things could be better. The sofas weren't very comfortable, and the top deck didn't feel as clean as the lower one. It would've been a simple but big improvement if the decking had been brushed to clear old cobwebs before we arrived. We were told about forestry work when we phoned to ask about walking the grounds, and we managed the rough patches, but a proper path would be a real plus for guests. The listed freezer was only a freezer box inside the fridge. We didn't need frozen food, but that might matter to other guests. Also, the narrow, winding gravel road made driving back up with a full car a struggle, even in first gear. Despite those points, I'd still highly recommend the property. The views were to die for, and sunbathing on the decking would be perfect in good weather.
