We had a lovely welcome pack with crisps, wine and cleaning supplies for washing up, and there was plenty of room to park. We had three cars and could still have fitted another one or two on the drive. The house is modern, spacious and has everything you need, with lovely gardens and views. The kids especially enjoyed the cows in the field at the bottom of the garden, which they named Gary & Rose. It's a great base for seeing the Lakes, with most places within a 20 minute drive. The village is a short walk away and has a playground that our youngest loved.

Crosthwaite is a charming village, and Scarsdale sits beside St. Mary's Church, a Grade I listed building, and The Punch Bowl Inn. With the Lake District National Park on the doorstep, it's a peaceful, comfortable base for exploring, especially for walking. The house works well for families and pets, with four bedrooms, a lovely garden and plenty of parking, plus access to some excellent walking routes. We've stayed twice. On our latest visit, two cows came through a gap in the fence into the back garden. We got them back into the field and temporarily fixed the broken section. I'd still recommend Scarsdale for a relaxing countryside break.
