Hillside Bed & Breakfast

Hillside feels like a proper B&B: clean, welcoming, and run by people who clearly love their area. Richard’s local advice was great. I wanted a good pub meal, and he pointed me to The Fleece, an excellent choice just a short walk away in Kendal. The town centre is about two minutes on foot. One thing about booking: I used an online agent this time, but next time I’ll book direct. I’m not against those platforms in principle, but places like Hillside deserve better than giving them a cut when they add nothing to the stay. Booking direct is simple and makes a difference. If you want somewhere with character at the edge of the Lakes, this is the place. The Travelodge up the road costs less, but leaves you feeling nothing. Your call.

Richard and Wendy were lovely hosts and knew a lot about the area and its transport links. The B&B is close to the town centre, and breakfast was delicious. Our room was clean and tidy. We chose the one with the small en suite, which was reflected in the price and still worked fine. The shower was rather weak, but everything else was good.

My wife and I had a lovely stay at Hillside Bed & Breakfast, and we'd recommend it. The owners were really nice and helpful, and breakfast in the morning was lovely. Our room was clean and tidy, and Kendal town centre is only about a five-minute walk away. We'd happily return next time we're in Kendal.

I slept really well, and the views over Kendal from my immaculate, well-equipped room were lovely. The shower room was nice too. Breakfast was delicious, and the welcome was warm, with friendly, attentive service throughout my two-night stay at the end of August. A wonderful B&B, especially for the price. I can't recommend it enough.
