I’d booked two nights, but had a car accident on the motorway and needed to be towed home. Even after Airbnb prompted him to respond, the host wouldn’t consider a partial refund. He didn’t communicate with me or respond in person. I would’ve appreciated some kind of reply, even just an explanation of why not. It felt inconsiderate.

Stuart, the owner, was really friendly, and he’d recently redecorated the cottage. It’s well placed for a Lake District holiday, about 15 minutes by car from Windermere, or you can take the bus if you like. It’s far enough from the busy tourist areas while still being close enough. We stayed for a week and would recommend it.

Stuart really helped make this a great stay. He picked us up from the station, took us into town in the evening, and gave us a lift back to the station when we checked out. Not having to wait for buses with heavy bags or arrive in town tired made a real difference. He also shared lots of useful local information and good ideas for evenings, including a wonderful pub about a 15-minute walk away and a fabulous farm shop where we had a cracking lunch. My friend and I had a really nice time here. The rooms were fresh and clean, and very reasonably priced. There was nothing to complain about. If you’re looking for a smart, comfortable and welcoming B&B in Kendal, look no further.

My motorbike broke down near the property, and the host kindly let me keep it there for a couple of days until I could come back. He even made me a brew while I arranged to meet my partner. I really, really appreciated it. Thank you so much.

We were warmly welcomed by the host and had everything we needed for a stop on the way through with our one-year-old son, including a crib, fridge and kettle. The room and bathroom were very clean, too. The chickens kept our little one entertained and gave us delicious eggs for breakfast. It’s an idyllic place in a really convenient location, and we’d stay again anytime we’re in the area.
