May 2026 We ate in the bar on a quiet Sunday night, so the staff had plenty of time for us and were very attentive. The dishes offered a good choice, and the wine was nice. Just be aware the starters are quite large if you’re planning three courses, you might not have room for pudding. Aliana gave us a tour and showed us a range of rooms, from standard to the prestige suite. The whole place has recently been refurbished to match the other sister hotels in the LDH portfolio, and they’ve done a lovely job. The decor is beautiful, with care put into every detail. The food was excellent and beautifully presented. 10/10.

The location is right in the main town, with plenty to do nearby. Our room was spacious and felt well worth the money. Service was brilliant and very quick, and every staff member was respectful.

A big thanks to Johnny, the manager, for going above and beyond. The whole team made the New Year Gala dinner a fantastic event. The food was really good, Alande, Rhyan, and everyone else gave top-class service, and Steve provided great music.

We stopped in for breakfast while visiting keswick. The waiter was lovely, polite, and attentive. He even checked that our dogs were doing alright, gave them treats, and offered them a doggy sausage breakfast.

This was a reasonable place to stay for the price package available at that time of year. The hotel is right in the town centre, and you can reach discounted local public parking behind it through the rear doors, with the charge settled at the end of your stay. The ground-floor areas are accessible for wheelchairs and buggies. There’s a lift to the general floors, though some rooms can’t be reached by it. It’s an old building, so rooms vary in shape and size, but ours had new decor and carpet. Room No 12 was a decent room with a shower, though very small, and once inside I had little room to move because the rear hand rail was at my back. Check where your room is: the rear rooms sit above the function area, and the disco two floors down kept us awake until midnight. The bar at the front is reasonable and serves food, with a separate restaurant and function room. All the staff were friendly, and reception was nicely decorated for Christmas. Service at the bar was slow, with one staff member serving a lot of guests, and we were charged for one extra pint. The restaurant had some good options and was generally good, but our steaks came medium to well done when we’d asked for medium rare. There was no offer to fix this or compensate us. Breakfast had good cooked choices, plus self-serve fruit, pastries, and cereal.
