The staff were excellent. When we raised the issue with the chicken kebab, they apologised and promptly offered alternatives. The chicken was cooked but cold in the middle, which made it seem as though it had been reheated. We chose pudding instead, and both desserts were lovely. We ate on Sunday afternoon. The food wasn’t great: the giant Yorkshire pudding and vegetables seemed like they came from the supermarket frozen section, and the beef tasted strange.

My daughter and I dropped in on the off chance, and even though it was really busy, the staff welcomed us and found us a table in the restaurant. We both had the large Yorkshire pudding with fillings. She had sausage and mash with vegetables, and I had slow-roasted lamb with mash and vegetables. It was all delicious, and the draught ale was superb. The desserts were outstanding too, sticky toffee pudding with ice cream for me, and apple and blackberry crumble for my daughter. The bar and waiting staff were very pleasant. Highly recommended, and we’ll be back.

We had two toasted sandwiches, both generous, tasty and well made, with fresh salad and a nice dressing, plus light fries in just the right amount. One was home-cooked Cumbrian ham with mature cheddar, the other mature cheddar with tomato and basil pesto. Both came on brown bread and cost £9.50 each. The ham was clearly quality meat, not processed. For the price, it was great value, and the menu has plenty of variety. We visited for a light Saturday lunch. The bar staff were welcoming and helped us choose where to sit. The place has a pleasant, relaxed feel and a cosy atmosphere, with thoughtful design. One of the nicer lunch spots in Keswick. We visit regularly and will return.

My mum and I tried the kings arms pie and pint deal, and it was so good. The food was hot and fresh, and Rohan, I believe that was his name, was especially welcoming and friendly. We’d definitely come again.

I went with my sister, and there was a great range of food and drinks. The staff were quick and attentive, and the atmosphere was warm, with good interior design. The food is worth it, and the pie is a proper pie, not just a lid. Smashing!
