Fine overall, but definitely rough and ready. The site is anything but flat, more like Nepal, so bring a vehicle with adjustable suspension. There’s just one shower, costing £1 per go, and it’s basically a hose fixed to the wall.

A back-to-basics farm stay in a fantastic spot, right by a bus route. There’s a pub about a 20-minute walk away. The owner was really friendly and helpful.
Dolly Wagon, the shepherd’s hut we stayed in, was cute, and the views around it were beautiful. Our host was really friendly and helpful. There’s one toilet, with plenty of toilet rolls, and one shower which costs £1. We were glad to be welcomed with fresh milk and eggs.
The farm scenery is stunning, and the animals were a delight. Although it’s a working farm, we felt completely at peace during our stay. The accommodation was fantastic, and the owner did a lot to make us feel at home. If you’re hoping to explore the Lakes, it makes an excellent base.
Facilities are simple but clean and fine for a short visit. I spent one night in my camper van at this farm site, a pleasant change from commercial campsites. The attitude is very much “take us as you find us,” which makes the place relaxed and easygoing.
