The Silverdale

A lovely guesthouse in a great spot, with a few parking spaces. The hosts were friendly and had a good sense of humour, and breakfast was really tasty.

Breakfast is delicious, and each meal is cooked individually to order. Don’t miss it, it’ll set you up for a day exploring. The rooms are simple but have what you need, and the place was clean throughout. There’s off-street parking, which is a real help during busy periods like bank holidays. On arrival, our enthusiastic host shared useful local advice, maps and guides for Keswick and the surrounding area. Silverdale Guest House is ideally placed and warmly run, a great base for couples or families visiting Keswick.

It’s quiet, very clean and comfortable, and just two minutes from the town centre, so there’s no need for buses or taxis. The host was friendly, helpful and down to earth. I enjoyed the whole stay, thank you. I’d definitely recommend it.

The Full English was the highlight of our trip. They said they could make pretty much anything we wanted, and the breakfast was delicious, much better than the one at the 5* hotel where we’d stayed the night before. Coffee, fresh juice, toast with jams and cereal were included too. The owners were welcoming and helpful without being in your face. We could come and go freely, and they gave recommendations when asked. When my partner hurt his foot, they even helped carry our luggage to the car. The Silverdale is a sweet family-run B&B in central Keswick. We stayed two nights in a Double Room with breakfast included. It was basic but had everything we needed and was immaculately clean, with a small TV, clothes storage, dressing table and chair, kettle, and tea and coffee. The king-size bed was comfortable, and shampoo and body wash were provided in the shower. Bring other toiletries or a hair dryer if you need them. There could have been more plug sockets, and some decor felt dated, though neither bothered us much. There’s a small breakfast restaurant and a front lounge with a TV. A few cars can park for free, and there were also spaces along most of the road. There’s no bar, but plenty of good pubs are just minutes away. We’ll definitely return and recommend it to friends and family.
