The Vane Arms

What a difference the new management has made. Eight adults and two children came in hungry and thirsty after the kitchen had closed. Within half an hour we’d all had drinks, rested, and been given plenty of chips and dips. Everyone was impressed. The place was friendly and helpful, and it may become our regular watering hole. Big thumbs up. Before that, it had been clean and pleasant with friendly staff, but the food was overcooked, dry and there wasn’t much choice.

We’d spotted the roast pork belly for sharing after a few dog-friendly afternoon drinks here following our walks. We called and booked for four people, and booking really is essential. The pork was insanely good, falling apart and cooked to perfection, with all the trimmings included. Sadly, we had no room left for pudding.

The Vane Arms was a much nicer surprise than we expected from what we thought would be an average pub meal. It has a pleasant atmosphere, helped along by the very busy Landlord, and the home-cooked food was great. The menu is concise, but I’d have been happy ordering anything on it. We’ll definitely be back.

We had dinner with friends at this lovely village pub and felt welcome straight away. The food came hot and was delicious, and the service was excellent. I couldn’t finish my main course, so I asked if I could take dessert with me, and that was no problem. I’d recommend it if you’re looking for a very good meal somewhere welcoming.
