We had a great night at the pub, where some local people were playing Scottish folk music. Everyone was friendly, and it felt like an authentic Scottish hospitality experience. The place is a hidden gem, about 25 minutes from Oban. Simon and Yvonne gave us a lovely welcome. Our room was spacious, good value, had everything we needed, and looked out over a sheep paddock and a flowing river.

We went for dinner with our two kids and ate in the cosy bar. The broccoli soup, mac and cheese and steak were all tasty, and the coffee was good too. A really warm welcome, highly recommend.

We sat outside and had such a lovely meal with the family. The portions were good, the salad was lovely, and the homemade sauces were nice as well. The food came quickly, tasted great, and the price was reasonable. The staff were very friendly and accommodating with our young family. My son especially loved the proper homemade mac and cheese. The kids had a great time, and we'd definitely go back.

We didn't stay at the pub, as our B&B was across the road, but we ate dinner there every night of our stay except Sunday and Monday, when no food was served. We were pleased to find a traditional pub with good food, and the chef is fab, the meals are brill. The locals apparently won't use it, though, and the pub is up for sale. Such a shame. I don't expect it to last. We arrived Thursday and planned to go home the following Thursday. On Tuesday, when there was a locals' music night, we arrived for the 6:15 table we'd booked days earlier because we wanted to enjoy the music in the bar. We were told we'd have to eat in the restaurant. We said we'd booked the table to be in the bar, but Yvonne, the landlady, got very stressed and called her husband. He told us to get out. We reminded them we'd been coming in every night since we arrived and had spent a lot of money there. Simon, the licensee's husband, was very strange. There seemed to be no care for visitors.

We ate in the cosy bar and had a great meal, with excellent value for the quality. The cheese soufflé starter was superb, and the prawn cocktail was a huge portion. The mains were good too, and the desserts looked great, though we had no room left. The food was much better than you'd expect from a small hotel in the middle of winter, and it was priced well below the quality. There was a nice selection of draft beers, and the wine was nice. I'm not sure whether they use the dining room in season.
