It’s great to see this village pub get a new lease of life under its new landlords. The beer and food are great, and the menu has plenty of options, with a specials board for even more choice. There’s a relaxed, welcoming feel, and the bar and restaurant layout works whether you’re stopping for a drink or sitting down to a three-course meal. Portions are generous, so arrive hungry. We visited in the evening as it was getting dark, and the log burner took the chill off the late summer air. The outdoor space looks like it would have all you’d want on a nice summer’s day. Parking is easy, right beside the pub. It’s also one of the few local pub restaurants open on a Monday evening. This is a proper Devon village pub with well-kept beer and a wine list that’s a cut above the ordinary, at very good prices. We’d thoroughly recommend The Dolphin, and hope you enjoy it as much as we did.

We tried the creamy garlic chicken and homemade bacon and cheese burger, and both meals were delicious. We were impressed with the quality. We popped in for food and would definitely return when we’re in the area.

There’s a great menu with loads to choose from, and the fish and chips are to die for 😁. The food, amazing staff and lovely atmosphere made for a fabulous visit. We’ll definitely be back. Keep up the good work Ben, Emma and Robbie 🤗

The online listing and a notice on the door both said it was open, but the bloody pub was shut. We’d had a tortuous drive down really poor roads, full of potholes with a ridge of grass growing up the middle.

The beer garden upgrade is great, and this traditional pub sits in a fantastic spot for a long circular walk along the estuary. Inside is lovely too. But food is too often unavailable without any notice, which is always disappointing. I understand it can be hard to find and keep staff in rural areas, but with full kitchen facilities, even simple cobs and pies should be manageable for most pub staff.
