The bathroom had black mould caked around the shower and sink, and the room was very dated, with tacky decor. I cancelled dinner and went elsewhere. On arrival, the staff member kept chatting with a customer at the bar, so I had to wait. There was no warm welcome or basic customer service. I was told to fill out the breakfast menu and pointed towards my room, with no other information. The breakfast waitress didn’t speak, and the breakfast was a child sized portion. It seemed either overcooked in the microwave or reheated from the day before. I’ve stayed in cleaner hostels with a better atmosphere. Very unwelcoming. I strongly advise paying a little extra and staying somewhere else.

The pub and restaurant staff were exceptional. The room was nice, though the double bed felt smaller than usual in both length and width. You can get dropped off by the bus right outside the inn. The hallways creak VERY loudly when anyone walks through.

The pub had a great atmosphere and good cider, though you order and pay at the bar. It works as a stop on the WHW, but the beds were very old and soft. My fish and chips made me sick, perhaps because the oil was old. I'd skip breakfast and get coffee and sandwiches from the local sandwich shop.

The location is the one good thing here. We stayed in August 2025 and were extremely disappointed. The shower drain was blocked, which was frustrating, and dinner didn't improve things: I ordered vegetable soup but got a dark red liquid that I'm certain was just watered-down ketchup. At breakfast the next morning, my husband and son both ordered the English breakfast, which came with sausage. The waitress said they would have to share one sausage because it was the last one. Completely unacceptable for a restaurant. I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone.

We only ate here, and the food was fresh and arrived in a reasonable time. The venison pie, fish and chips, and three cheese macaroni and cheese were all excellent. You have to order and pay at the bar. The restaurant is on the small side, with a quaint, rustic mountain feel.
