It feels like miles from anywhere, but Kirkby Stephen is actually close by if you need anything. There are great walks starting right at the front door, and sheep, goats and ponies to watch through the windows. This is a gorgeous, very peaceful cottage, spacious and comfortable, with everything you need. It's an old North Pennines farmhouse, thoughtfully done up, and the log burner is cracking. We stayed through a night at -11°C and were still snug and cosy. The owners live next door on a working farm. They're lovely and friendly without being intrusive. Just lovely.

A great holiday in an unspoilt area, and the people we met were friendly. The hosts were great too. This place is a pure delight. Hope to return. If God holidayed from Devon, he'd certainly come here.

The cottage turned out to be everything we hoped for, in beautiful surroundings. We had a superb week and a lovely break.
