Orcades Hostel

We booked a private room with an ensuite, and it was spacious. The kitchen area and lounge were large too. Check-in was straightforward, which made arriving after our late-night ferry easy. A great place to stay, and we'd definitely choose it again if we visit.

A good-sized bunk room, plus a spacious lounge with a big TV and enough dining tables. The kitchen was well stocked, and the location is handy for central Kirkwall.

We could park in front of the hostel the whole time, and I'd definitely come back. It's amazing value for money. The hostel is basic but cosy, and the host was really helpful, friendly and polite. The room was a decent size, clean and warm, with an electric shower in the adjacent bathroom and hot water whenever we needed it. There's also a mini fridge and kettle in the room. The shared areas were well equipped. We made pancakes with Nutella for breakfast one morning, and the dining room had three massive oak tables. The lounge was full of board games and books, plus a huge TV, though we had a TV in our room too. I'd recommend it.

A good budget hotel with double rooms, private bathrooms, and a kettle with complimentary tea and hot chocolate. The internet worked well, and there was a kitchen available. Late check-in is possible, as they'll send you an entrance code. After checkout, you can leave your luggage in a spot under the stairs and lock valuables in lockers.
