Airlie Arms Hotel

We all had a lovely stay with friends. The staff were really attentive and considerate, and the hotel made a great base for nearby hikes. Getting around without a car can be tricky, though. There’s no private parking, but that didn’t bother us. My single room was small but clean, with a nice view. I did miss having a wardrobe. The breakfast had a satisfying range, including British and international choices and porridge. The bar was lively in the evenings, and the pub food was outstanding, so book ahead. They also have a great whisky selection.

The staff were plentiful and helpful, and the place was clean, but the stay felt basic. You can hear noise from other rooms through the stud walls. The shower swung from hot to cold without warning, and there was nowhere to put soap bags in the bathroom. The menu has too much standard fare. The specials are better. It’s a shame the interior doesn’t pay any attention to the building’s Grade 2 listing.

We liked it so much after a full day of Munro bagging that we came back the very next night. The portions were just what we needed, the menu had loads of choices, including plenty for vegetarians, and it was great value. They were also very welcoming to us and our big dog, and the service was lovely from the moment we arrived. So glad we found the airlie arms on our camping trip. We’ll definitely come back.

The food came in generous portions, with plenty to choose from. The ribeye steak was cooked to perfectionz and came with lots of mushrooms. The children's menu was great too, especially having steak pie as a different option. We had a lovely visit with my husband, our three kids and dog. We sat outside, though dogs are welcome inside too. The place had a nice atmosphere and decor, and was clean throughout, including the very clean toilets. Such a lovely wee place. Thankyou. 🙌
