We had a lovely stopover in January 2026 on our way to Durham, staying in a very nice old village near Knaresborough. The pub was busy with locals when we arrived, always a good sign. Our spacious, homely room came with the usual tea and coffee, plus homemade brownies, a nice touch. We ate really well in the restaurant: fish pie, burger and pork belly, then sticky toffee pudding, all excellent. Breakfast was very good too, with high-quality ingredients, and we had a nice chat with the owner and staff, who were happy to help with special requests. At checkout they unexpectedly gave us a bag of water and fruit for the journey. Excellent quality, service and price. We’d definitely recommend it and will return.

We’d been hungry and hoping to find something to eat on the way home, but ended up getting a lot more than dinner at the Blue Bell. The chap behind the bar made us feel very welcome. The dinner service hadn’t begun, but we could look over the menus and were taken to the restaurant as soon as the chef was ready. We ordered three courses. Every dish looked good, tasted great and came in a generous portion, with plenty of choice. The Blue Bell is beautiful inside, cosy and full of lovely details. We especially liked the sheep in a flat back cap. Even the bathrooms smelled lovely and were very clean. It’s been ages since we had service this good alongside such a nice setting and food. We can’t recommend it enough and hope to visit again when we’re back this way. Thanks from Kimberley and Simon, the muddy, slightly disheveled climbers.

Room 5 was just what I needed after a pretty rubbish six months of ill health. The little private balcony was super cute, and we got to enjoy it in lovely sunny weather. This tucked-away gem had a great atmosphere, and the food and staff were top notch. We’ll definitely be back.

We came on a recommendation for a nearby wedding and were made to feel welcome from arrival right through to checkout. The staff and service were superb, thoughtful and kind, with a great sense of humour and real customer care. The room was cosy and comfortable, had everything we wanted, including tea and coffee, and we slept brilliantly. We had a late lunch with a menu that offered something for everyone. My partner’s locally made Champions Pie was perfect, with just the right amount of gravy. I had lovely fish and chips with all the trimmings, cooked perfectly in gluten-free batter. Breakfast started with muesli, cereals, toast and juice, followed by a Full English and Scrambled Eggs and Smoked Salmon. Everything was excellent quality and beautifully presented. Our host and the rest of the team were wonderful, and we’re thinking about when we can return for Sunday Lunch. Bottles of water and fruit for the journey were waiting when we left. The busy restaurant and friendly locals made it clear this is a special place. We had a great stay, thank you.

The food came out hot, tasted great and was excellent, and everyone serving us was friendly. It was my first time dining here, and the cosy pub, lovely decor and nice vibe made it a great all-round experience. We’re only a 20-minute drive away, so if today’s visit is anything to go by, we’ll definitely be regulars.
