Although I've lived in Harrogate for 26 years, this was my first visit, after So Bar in Knaresborough recommended the pub for a Sunday roast. There was a wait for the food, as they told me there would be, but it was tasty, nicely presented, and a good-sized portion. Blaise, Ella and Sarah were polite and accommodating with both the bar and waitress service. The toilets were clean and stocked with the things you need. I'll definitely recommend the pub to everyone I know.

We all had the Sunday roast, which was delicious, good quality, and plentiful. The staff gave us a lovely warm welcome, and there was a good choice of beers. Thoroughly recommend it.

The pies, mash, and gravy were fab, and my wife's vegetable pie with mustard mash was really good too. They gave us a warm welcome and warned us about a 40-45 minute wait. It wasn't an issue, as it was a nice place to sit with a half, and the food came sooner than that. Funny how it's a local for some and a destination for others. If it's your local, you're lucky.

We had a very enjoyable afternoon meal on the 24th October. The Chicken Parmo arrived in a reasonable time and was absolutely delicious. The Groves says it's a North East delicacy, though it started in Middlesbrough and has since spread far and wide. I live there and have tried Parmos in lots of places, and this one holds up with the best. Reasonable Lager prices and really pleasant staff made it a meal we'd happily repeat.

The staff are really friendly, and there's a good choice of beers. Definitely try the pies, the pastry is gorgeous and the portions are generous. Highly recommended!
