Travelodge Knutsford M6 hotel

The staff are friendly, and it’s dog friendly. For a Travelodge on the M6, it was never going to be 5 star, but the location is good. With the window open, though, there’s a lot of traffic noise. The room was otherwise okay, but the bed was rock hard and the carpet had quite a few stains. I’ve taken off 1 star because there was no hot water until the next day.

Immaculate room, and check-in was simple and friendly. It’s such a practical, convenient, modern place. We’re travelling north again next time and will definitely stay here. Nice job.

I visited with a friend last month because we both enjoy aviation and wanted to see the nearby Manchester Airport Runway Visitor Park. I use a wheelchair and had booked an accessible room, but although it meets regulatory standards, it only just does so. I found it hard to get around independently, especially over the lip between the bathroom door and the room. If you use a wheelchair too, I’d recommend going with someone else. I couldn’t have managed the room alone. We found out on arrival that there were no wetroom facilities. At check-in, a staff member was initially very friendly and tried to move us to a nearby hotel with a wetroom, but we were told Travelodge would charge £55 extra. That was unaffordable just to have a wash. The staff member shared our interest in aviation and talked with us about it. They added us on social media to share some aircraft pictures they’d taken. The next day they messaged to ask us to meet at the nearby Airport Pub. We were a little hesitant, but went along. Everything seemed fine until we got home and my friend received several inappropriate romantic messages from them. My friend blocked the staff member, and we contacted Travelodge. I don’t feel the complaint was fully dealt with. Travelodge wouldn’t tell us what organisational changes had been made, which we understand, since they can’t share personal details about an employee. But their reply also didn’t call the behaviour inappropriate and skimmed over that part, focusing on accessibility instead. If you’re a woman staying here, especially on your own, be careful about who you talk to and take precautions to stay safe.

There are a few breakfast options from Costa, Greggs and the like, and we had a decent night’s sleep despite being right alongside the M6. Lovely staff and spotlessly clean rooms. Super, smashin’, great.
