The food was excellent and good value, and the pub has a proper, authentic atmosphere in a beautiful spot. We met friends for lunch, and it was my first time in Lacock. The building is really old, though probably still the newest one in the village. At first the staff seemed a little frosty, though maybe that was just my imagination. They warmed up after we’d been there a couple of hours. It would’ve been nicer if all the food had arrived together. I live quite a way off, but hope to make it back before too long.

The staff were so friendly and even suggested local beers. We stopped in after exploring town for a quiet meal, and the pub was lovely, with proper homemade food. I had the ham and eggs. I’d like to stay here on a future holiday, too. It feels like a real hidden gem. ❤️ I rated the rooms three only because we didn’t actually stay here, which is a shame. Maybe next time.

The view is the one good thing about this pub. Three different waitresses were rude and abrupt, with no smiles, and seemed like they didn’t want to be there. The food was worse still, despite the place being nearly empty and the wait being ages. My Brie and Chutney Toastie came on wholegrain bread that wasn’t mentioned on the menu. It was burnt, the brie hadn’t melted, and the chutney tasted scorched and store bought. The Tuna Sourdough was also on soggy wholegrain bread. The tuna was waterlogged, there was no spring onion, and the salad was wilted and rotting. Both plates came with fries that were stone cold. It feels like this place gets by on its location alone, a tourist trap in the truest sense. If a nearby competitor hadn’t been closed, I doubt they’d have had any customers. Save your money and go elsewhere.

We stayed overnight in this lovely village, and the hotel left us with a warm, pleasant memory. Its authentic feel was a nice surprise. The staff were kind and welcoming. We ate dinner elsewhere, so that evening we just had a beer and some tea here. Breakfast the next morning was very good.

We brought nine people for a pub lunch after Christmas, and it was a lovely end to our family celebrations. They warned us service might be delayed because they were fully booked, but our food took less than 30 minutes and every meal arrived together. That takes some skill! The staff were cheerful and friendly, and the food was spot on. Thanks to everyone.
