After a long day on day 29 of my Land's End to John O'Groats walk, I arrived at 4:30pm tired and found a dirty, unmade bed and a dirty bathroom when I opened the room door. The owner wasn’t answering the phone, so I left messages. In the end I had to leave and find another hotel. I tried contacting them again and then Booking.com, but they refused to refund me.
There was a damp smell as soon as I entered, and the bedding and towels were very dirty. The landlord gave me a safe combination, but there was no key inside, and the front door wouldn’t lock, so I felt very unsafe. The bathroom had no shampoo, shower gel or even hand soap. Soundproofing was awful too. I could hear the neighbours walking around and using the toilet.
Bring earplugs, your own bed, and be ready to wash the bathroom. That’s what it takes to make this place very good. Same goes for the second time: bring earplugs, your bed, and wash the bathroom.
