Domain Boutique Rooms

Tom was quick to respond when we decided at the last minute to check in early, and the self check-in was a nice touch. The room was cosy and had everything we needed. The extras I’d requested lived up to expectations, and we loved the freestanding bath in the room as a couple. We stayed three nights over the weekend, using the hotel as a base to explore the area. Everything went well from start to finish. The whole place was immaculate, and the room design, huge shower and Lakes shower gels made it feel luxurious. We’ll definitely be back.

The manager was quick to respond whenever I had a request, and the customer service was good. Check-in went smoothly, too. My room at the Domain Boutique Room was clean, well maintained and had everything I needed for a quiet break. It was easy to get to the town centre and local transport. I was comfortable throughout my stay and would definitely recommend the accommodation and service. Five stars, and I’ll visit again.

We left after the fire alarm went off while my wife was getting dressed. Other guests were leaving too, but nobody was there to explain what was happening or whether it was safe to go back in. I messaged the owners, got no reply, and we went. As we left, there was a freshly squashed rat outside the main door. We’d already had a dreadful night. The room opposite had loud music, conversations, phone calls, singing and shouting until 5 am. We were woken around midnight by the fire doors slamming, and there was more shouting outside on the street. The building has almost no soundproofing. We eventually tried to sleep with earphones playing white noise. The green fire system light also lit up the room brightly. The property itself was nicely furnished and well located, but that was about it for positives. Check-in was self-service with a code from the owners, and we booked through Airbnb. There was a terrible smell from the bathroom when we entered. The owners said they hadn’t known about it and suggested running the basin and shower, which helped a little. I assume the traps had dried out. They said they’d investigate in the morning, but we were only there one night. Later, I noticed water dripping through the reception ceiling and messaged them in case it caused damage. I got no response. We also contacted them after the stay to ask about speaking with them, but heard nothing after the initial bathroom exchange. I know the guests’ behaviour wasn’t in the owners’ control, but the lack of soundproofing seems like a corner cut during the refurbishment. We’d had a long drive and went straight to bed when we returned around 10:30 pm, hoping to rest before the 11 am checkout. The alarm went off around 9 am, and we’d had enough. I’ve added pictures. I’d book somewhere else.

The room was clean and getting in with the codes was easy. It’s right in the centre. There’s parking round the corner by the Sun Pub. I’d come back if we stay in Lancaster again.
