The Toll House is right by the city centre, and it’s excellent value for money. It may not be a five-star hotel, but it doesn’t need to be when the essentials are done well. The staff are delightful and the food is very good. I’d always recommend it for the service and value. Well done, everyone.

I’ve eaten at this restaurant a couple of times while visiting Lancaster and have always liked it. The food was great and the service friendly, but this time wasn’t right for our family catch-up. Our table was among others, which was fine until a band started in the bar. They were good, but we could still hear them at the far end of the restaurant, and everyone nearby had to raise their voices. We couldn’t hear each other. One meal was also wrong; it was corrected quickly and they apologised, but we ended up eating at different times.

We always stay at this hotel when we’re in Lancaster because the rooms are a good size and very clean. The service is excellent, welcoming, helpful, and efficient every time. Its city-centre spot beside the canal is hard to beat.

The staff made our enjoyable weekend, always pleasant and professional, and the rooms were spotless with lovely touches, including welcome truffles that the children and I loved. The location was perfect for exploring this beautiful city, and we visited the castle, museum, and lovely park. Dinner was the highlight: every dish was excellent, and there was live music in the bar that added to the evening without getting in the way. The mix of guests and locals made for a nice balance. We’ll definitely return. A huge thank you.
