We paid £100 for the night with breakfast, and it felt worth double that. The breakfast was outstanding after a cosy night's sleep, and the place was spotless again despite a busy night. The young chefs came out to greet diners, something I hadn't seen in years, and they added a personal touch to every dish. Nothing was a problem. Just outside Langport, this is a wonderful country house hotel, with plenty of parking and a play area for children. Our room was spotless and modern, and I loved the big rainforest-style shower. Check-in was personal and cheerful, and we were shown to our room. Later, we had lunch downstairs in a charming, contemporary area that still felt like home. The bar team were relaxed and attentive, and asking if we'd like to put it on a tab made everything simple. The menu was delicious and very reasonably priced, while the food presentation felt five-star. The staff seemed humble but proud to bring it out. We said goodbye to the owner. I think he may be showing this lovely place on Series 4 of In a Bed in the New Year. Many thanks.

The belly pork was delicious, with crisp crackling, beautifully cooked vegetables and lovely roast potatoes. We had Sunday roast at The Crown last weekend. The staff were friendly and helpful, and it was well worth a visit.

Angie the housekeeper gave us such a warm welcome at breakfast, and we had a great breakfast too. We enjoyed drinks and a very nice meal in the bar, and the bar manager made us feel welcome when we arrived at Drayton Crown. Our room and en-suite were great, with everything we needed, including biscuits for our tea and coffee. We'll be back. Tim & Sue
