We went for an evening meal with friends. The food ranged from good to excellent, and the service was friendly and good. In the dark it was tricky to park, as a few huge rocks protecting the grassy areas are easy to miss. My soft drink could have been colder, though that's just my personal preference. We paid about £35 per person for a main, sweet and soft drink.

We were headed to another eatery but this place looked so nice that we decided to give it a go. Glad we did. My wife had the fish and chips, which were fantastic, and I had one of the best steak and ale pies I've had in a pub. The smaller plates were a smart option, and my wife's was still plenty. Portions are excellent. We've already pinned it for a return visit, and I'd definitely recommend it.

We stopped in for lunch. It's a very nice pub with a good choice of beers, and the staff were really friendly. I tried the lamb shank. It was beautifully cooked, but there was too much mint in the sauce and mash, which unfortunately took over the lamb's flavour.

We were driving nearby on our way to Northumberland and stopped at this very nice Inn. It's in a lovely village, with a good menu, very good service and delicious meals. There are toilets inside, a children's play area at the front, and a free car park opposite. I'd definitely visit again if I'm in the area.

The evening meal and breakfast were exceptional and well worth recommending. We were on a recent cycle tour following the C2C, and it was a great help that the Inn is cycle friendly. Everyone was friendly and helpful. The bedroom was comfortable in this very old building. Many thanks.
