We were lucky to get a table for two when we dropped in for dinner without a booking. It was busy, especially for a Wednesday night. The food was very tasty, and the girls gave excellent service, friendly and attentive.

We visited for lunch for the first time on 5th December and were struck by what a beautiful hotel it is. The staff were wonderful, the food delicious, and a couple of people in our party saw the rooms and were literally blown away. We didn't stay ourselves, but will definitely be back. Thanks for the atmosphere, kindness, service and food.
At the Stroppy Cow in the Black Bull Hotel, Sunday lunch was really enjoyable, with excellent service throughout. The food looked lovely: fresh broccoli, medium-rare beef cooked just right, and delicious parsnips. I would've liked the roast potatoes a little crisper, but everything else was spot on.
We came back after about seven years and had the best meal we've had in ages. The portions were generous and full of flavour, and the service was quick and consistent.
The very good service made Sunday lunch at the Stroppy Cow restaurant in the Black Bull Hotel a really enjoyable occasion. The food was nicely presented. I like broccoli fresh and uncooked, and this was just how I like it. The lean beef was medium rare, as I like it, and the parsnips were very tasty. The potatoes were roasted, though I prefer them crispier, baked for longer.
