Corran Resort & Spa

Our suite was huge and really comfortable, with a large TV, sofa and very large bed. The restaurant service was attentive, and the food was perfect. It’s more about quality than quantity, so we’d suggest ordering a side of vegetables. The treatments we had were spot on, with relaxation clearly the focus. Book your time slots early to fit your plans, as we had to work around other guests. Staff were helpful and pleasant throughout. The Corran is quite isolated, but you can reach one of the local towns by car in about ten minutes. I’d recommend it for the food, spa, accommodation and rugged, beautiful surroundings. Booking at the last minute turned out to be lucky for us.

Jamie and Alison have created a lovely retreat for anyone wanting a break from the hustle and bustle. We’ll definitely go back. The room was gorgeous, combining old features with contemporary touches, and the welcome at reception was wonderful. I came away from the lovely spa experience feeling relaxed and glowing after my facial. The food was superb, and the Restaurant Manager and staff were professional and attentive. Even with a large party there, we weren’t kept waiting.

The evening meal and breakfast were beautiful, and the hot stone massage was excellent. Our room was clean and presentable, though the shower was cold. I was disappointed that both the hot tub and steam room were out of order. This was a Christmas present for my husband and me, and for the price we paid I expected everything to be working.

The restaurant was pretty good. The menu choices were limited, but what we had was tasty and well prepared. We stayed two nights and the menu was the same both evenings. Our waiter’s English wasn’t strong enough for us to understand whether there were daily specials. Check-in was fairly friendly, but the place felt run down. Our room was very noisy, with squeaky floors and loud radiators. The pool, jacuzzi and only working sauna were really dirty. The sauna barely got hot, the changing rooms were disgusting and muddy, and the lockers didn’t lock. The location is fairly remote, and walking nearby isn’t possible because a firing range lies between the Corran and the sea. Still, it’s quite close to some nice seaside spots and countryside.
