The house had a lovely, warm feel, with a Christmas tree in the middle. Our first room was on the top floor, and I was concerned to find there was no lift, so we had to carry our luggage upstairs. The room was large but dim, with too little lighting and not enough heat, which made it feel a bit odd. After we gave the hotel feedback and they checked a few times, they moved us to a basement room. That one was modern, bright and warm. I'd recommend the rooms on the lower floors. Rose and the other male staff member on duty on 1 Jan were especially attentive, helpful and understanding throughout.

I was there for an overnight stop on a business trip and had a lovely stay. The food was very good and the portion generous enough that I couldn't manage pudding, though it looked tempting. The place is picturesque, but be prepared to drive uphill. If the front spaces are full, there's more parking farther along. I honestly can't think of any problems.

The view from the bar was gorgeous, and the service was as friendly as ever. We came for Sunday roast, which was beautifully cooked and came in generous portions. We'll definitely be back. Thanks, Eagle House!

Terri was wonderful throughout the wedding plans and on the day. She answered all my questions patiently, never made me feel silly, and was there whenever we needed anything. When we left our cake board behind, she even posted it back to us herself. We had a wedding buffet and stayed for two nights; the room was perfect, and the staff were so helpful with all my questions and emails beforehand. They helped make the best day of our lives incredible. We're already talking about returning for our anniversary. Thank you all so much for an amazing wedding day.

Our wedding reception at this historic hotel was absolutely perfect. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Terry, who was a real star. We're so happy we held the reception here.
