Hillside Hotel & Restaurant

I slept well, enjoyed the bed and liked the food, which makes the problems a shame. Staff were friendly at check-in, breakfast and check-out, and there were no service issues. It's a small hotel, so you may have to wait for someone to come along. I waited patiently and wasn't left too long before getting help with check-in. Two things bothered me. There was no shampoo, and I hadn't noticed any warning on the website. If I'd known, I could have brought my own. I tried to make do with the soap, but when I opened a towel I saw something crawling on it. I think it was a cockroach, and I couldn't bring myself to shower after that.

I spent two weeks here for work, and the food and staff made it a great stay. They couldn't do enough for me, and the place has real personality. The Hiller club sandwich is to die for, and the Hiller stack is a tasty smaller option. There's a bar on site, a beer garden and plenty of parking, though it can get busy. I'd choose the Hiller over Travelodge and will definitely try to stay again.

The place was freezing and had no atmosphere. The food was expensive without the quality to match, and the pictures on the website and Facebook don't look like what you actually get. They should give up on the food side.

We had dinner with family and the food was excellent. Our room was clean and nicely presented, and we had a lovely overnight stay. Service was excellent from the moment we arrived.
