Rowanlea Lodge

We spent the days walking, including a drive to the beach, then stayed out late by the fire pit watching the stars. The lodge was cosy with log burners, lovely views, comfortable beds and a great hot tub. A wonderful short break and just the place to rest and recharge. Thank you.

The hot tub was ready when we arrived, and Lorna welcomed us warmly, letting us know we could use the BBQ and heater. We stayed at Rowanlea Lodge for a few days with my wife, daughter, son-in-law and our dog Arthur. The cabin is stunning inside and out, beautifully furnished and had everything we needed. Bread, tea, coffee and homemade marmalade from our host were a lovely touch. We enjoyed every moment and can't recommend Lorna's Rowanlea Lodge highly enough. St Cyrus Beach is amazing, Dunottar Castle is a must-see, and the pub in Marykirk was welcoming with great food and drinks.

The panoramic views and beauty around the lodge are wonderful, and we were delighted to see different birds each morning, including woodpeckers. I'm 62, with a lovely wife and two teenage daughters, and we've taken plenty of self-catering breaks. None compares to this intimate, magical lodge or its perfect host, Lorna. The facilities are excellent, especially the wood-burning barn BBQ and luxurious hot tub. Lorna's care with cleanliness and her friendliness are second to none. We've promised to come back, with or without the kids. Highly recommend.

Our puppy Lotus opened the gate and walked into Lorna's house, and she welcomed him in even though he wasn't invited! The garden is a great size for dogs to run around in, and we had a relaxing time in the hot tub. It was unusually warm in Scotland, so we didn't need the log burner, though logs are provided. The house was warm, clean and comfortable, a real home from home with everything we needed and more. We'd highly recommend it and look forward to another break.
