The man behind the bar was polite, attentive and professional, and even offered another glass of wine when our food was delayed, though I couldn't accept because I was driving. That was the best part of a very disappointing business lunch. We ordered soup and a BLT. After 37 minutes, he told us there'd been a kitchen issue and asked whether we could wait longer. We said we couldn't wait much more, but sat there another 8-10 minutes and the food still never came. When another staff member checked on us, I asked her to look into the order since we'd already waited over half an hour. “I doubt that,” she replied, which came across as dismissive and unprofessional. We decided to leave and asked for a refund, but nobody could process it. We were told the managers were in a meeting next door. When I went to ask for help, the assistant manager seemed more annoyed that the meeting had been interrupted than interested in sorting out our problem. Waiting so long without a meal was frustrating. The way the situation was handled, with no accountability and a dismissive attitude, was what really let us down. I later got an email saying the refund would be processed within the next 10 days. You couldn't make it up. Not a good experience this morning.

Breakfast was the standout. There was a huge continental buffet with loads of choices, all laid out beautifully, plus cooked options. I tried shakshuka for the first time and it was full of flavour. The evening drinks and breakfast service were both attentive, friendly and chatty. The hotel was spotless and quiet, and our room was immaculate and nicely presented. The bedding and pillows were so soft and comfortable that I haven't slept that well in a hotel for a while. Check-in was welcoming too, the front desk team were friendly, chatted with us and had us sorted in seconds. We had evening plans elsewhere, so didn't eat dinner at the hotel. I'd absolutely come back. Those pillows were good enough to take home!

The location was unbelievably handy, right by the train station, with restaurants next door and grocery shops nearby. We ordered Deliveroo all weekend and didn't even need to leave the room. My partner and I had a lovely weekend, and everything went smoothly. The room was wonderful and clean, and the staff were kind and easy to reach. Loved having a TV that lets you Chromecast, and the mattress and duvet were unbelievably comfy. We'll definitely be back. Thanks so much, team.

Callum, the manager, was pleasant and very on the ball, and the staff were attentive without hovering. They all had lovely personalities. My husband and I visited the brasserie on Friday 17th April for afternoon tea, which was absolutely delicious. A really enjoyable afternoon, we'd highly recommend it and will definitely return. We ate breakfast and dinner on both days, and every meal was delicious, well balanced and nicely presented. Our room was comfortable and looked good, and everyone was extremely helpful, friendly and polite from the start through the whole stay. I hadn't known what to expect, as this was my first time at a Malmasion Hotel, but we had a great time and would stay again. It's central and close to the station. There was plenty of roadwork nearby, but it didn't bother us for noise, and nights were fairly quiet.
