We felt welcome with our little dog, and the pub had a cosy feel. The staff were really friendly, had a good chat with us and offered suggestions for our stay. The lagers and ciders on tap were delicious. Definitely recommend.

The calm atmosphere made the stay feel special. No loud music, just guests chatting quietly and a crackling fire. We also enjoyed looking through the art and history books around the hotel, which helped us learn about the area. Staff were friendly and happy to answer all our questions. Our meal was beautifully presented, delicious, and full of little touches that made it memorable. It was one of the nicest meals we’ve had out, and the service was excellent. We could tell the staff liked working there. The room was cosy and pretty, with lovely decor and eco shampoos. There was even a small piece of cake waiting for us, just right after our long journey. We were so pleased with the stay that we’ll definitely book again. In the morning I ran to The sculpture on the beach, about 1.5 miles away. The path and sunset were beautiful, and I came back to a lovely breakfast. I really can’t recommend this hotel enough, and we’re looking forward to returning.

This was our third stay at The Dolphin, and we enjoyed it just as much as before. The staff are warm and welcoming, and the food is delicious and excellent quality. Our bedroom was comfortable and spotlessly clean. If you’re interested in Thorpeness history, the quirky photos on the bar walls are worth a look.

After a long day, I appreciated how quiet and relaxing my cosy, well-kept room was. The Dolphin Inn was clean and comfortable, with a welcoming atmosphere throughout. Staff were friendly, attentive and ready to help. Its convenient location made it easy to reach nearby amenities and attractions. I had a really pleasant two-night stay and would happily return or recommend it.

We had dinner at the Dolphin on 8 September 2025, and the food and beer were great. The service was excellent too. I’d especially suggest trying a few items from the ‘nibbles’ menu to share if you’re in a group, though the starters were good as well. The mains were excellent: my steak arrived rare as requested, the burger went down well, the seabass was cooked very nicely, and the linguine was excellent. I called around lunchtime to book a table for six at 7.30 that evening. I left a voicemail and expected to have to chase them, but they called back within 20 minutes to confirm. Then, at about 6.30, I rang to change the booking to ten people. Even with such short notice, they were able to accommodate us. Highly recommended.
