voco Letchworth Hall by IHG

For my special friend's birthday, I took her to afternoon tea at Letchworth Hall Hotel on 31st January 2026. We had savoury afternoon tea, and it was superb and delicious. The staff were so friendly and helpful, going above and beyond to make it special for us. Thanks so much for all your kind help.

The room was lovely, with a super king-size bed, an iron, and a hairdryer. There were plenty of sockets, including built-in USB A and C ports, and the over-bath shower was very nice. This is a large, upmarket hotel with a restaurant serving good quality food. Breakfast is a must! The attached Nuffield gym is included and has great facilities, including a pool and spa. There's plenty of parking and no extra charge.

In my experience, the room was shockingly cramped. The bed left barely enough room to walk around, and there was nowhere to open a suitcase. For a business traveller stopping just one quick night, arriving late, sleeping, and leaving, it might be manageable. Anything longer would be a reason to look elsewhere. For a couple or a longer stay, it would be impractical, with no room to breathe and everyone on top of each other. It was like a nicely decorated rabbit hutch, but too cramped to be comfortable.

Breakfast was freshly cooked and there was plenty to choose from, and our room was clean, well equipped and air conditioned. But the bed was the most uncomfortable we've ever slept in, like lying on wood. We didn't feel we got value for money, and I wouldn't recommend the hotel. The grounds at Letchworth Hall are beautiful and would suit a wedding. The staff weren't very helpful. They refused to give someone a glass because they'd run out of that particular type, then practising throwing a wine glass down didn't seem professional.
