The gardens were beautifully kept and designed, and a pleasure to walk around. Inside, The Old Country House is full of fascinating history and gorgeous period decor, with thoughtful furnishings. The bedrooms are warm and beautifully furnished, with every necessity and more, plus generous touches like complimentary Sherry in a crystal decanter with glasses. We felt thoroughly spoilt and very special. Simon gave us a marvellous, warm welcome and was such a friendly, helpful and attentive host. Thank you, Simon and Gary, for a wonderful experience.

We spent 6 nights here and were extremely happy with the accommodation and food. Simon and Gary were personable, professional hosts, and Simon knew the house's interesting history inside out. He was so helpful and couldn't do enough for us. Our room was well appointed and spotless, as was the rest of the house. Breakfast was first rate, with personal touches like homemade jams, fresh eggs from their hens and gluten free options. They're both very good cooks. The two acres of grounds, with a fish pond, sitting area and flower gardens, were all well cared for. They have a real gem of a property!

We only wish we'd booked a longer stay. The house is full of fine details, and so much care has gone into making it romantic and comfortable. Gary greeted us so warmly and showed us through his wonderful old heirloom establishment. His professional, open and sensitive hosting really moved us. It was everything you'd hope for from a place like this, and much more. If only we could give it ten stars!

The grounds were incredible, breakfast was lovely, and the room itself was stunning. I found this place online while looking for a hotel near Stoke, and the Tudor building has been lovingly restored, with immaculate, lavish rooms. The owners gave us such a personal welcome that it made the stay feel richer. I travel for work and stay in plenty of hotels, and this is hands down the nicest place I've visited in years. It might cost a little more than most, but it still came in £50 cheaper than a Premier Inn I stayed at in London this week. Thanks for a great stay. I'd recommend it to anyone looking for a romantic retreat, and to everyone else too.

Simon is a great host and made an already beautiful place even better to stay in. It's ideally located for visits to Stoke on Trent, and there are plenty of good local pubs to eat at within 20 minutes. Breakfast was ideal, and I'd recommend the oatcakes. I'd love to come back.
