The kitchen could use a few basics, like cooking tongs, though it was handy having a washer-dryer and a good supply of essentials. They sorted the leaking roof in our accommodation quickly. The lochside setting is lovely, but road noise was noticeable, and the signs around the hotel felt off-putting. Our reservation requests through Booking.com never got through, and although a camp bed had been agreed, we were told on arrival it couldn't be provided. The decor was strange too, with pictures hanging unevenly and a mismatched theme.

We only stopped for a cold coffee, not an overnight stay, but it was a lovely place to pause. The coffee was really good, and the views are among the best in Scotland. There's access to the loch, with a pebbly beach and mountains in the background.

The food was absolutely delicious, and the staff were so welcoming and friendly. They went out of their way to make us comfortable. We've stayed twice now and didn't want to leave either time. Can't wait to come back!

A warning for anyone thinking of booking. We needed to cancel 10 days before check-in because of an emergency, but the hotel refused without giving a reason. The staff were rude and had a bad attitude toward us. Another place refunded us straight away, and seeing that Black sheep still had a lot of rooms during the busy summer made us wonder if that was why we were treated this way. Highland is a very popular destination, but I wouldn't recommend staying here. The place looks fancy in the photos only. Save your money and find somewhere else.

Drover’s Den was a lovely cabin, and we'd definitely come back for a longer visit. Our stay was brief, but the staff kindly arranged a late check-in after 10pm and even let us have a quick nightcap in the bar. Highly recommend!
