The room was basic and okay, but had no windows. By then, though, the stay was already spoiled. The hotel is directly above a pub with very loud live music, and we couldn’t get proper rest. We wish they’d told us beforehand. Even if they can’t control it, they could at least give guests advance notice. The reception staff were playing videos loudly and talking and laughing out loud in the middle of the night. The pub music was already shaking the walls, so that made things even worse. We didn’t complain only because another customer had done so just before us. If you need sleep, avoid this place. And before they reply that street noise is out of their control, that isn’t the point. Guests trust the hotel when they choose it over other places and pay to stay there. Tell them there’s a very loud pub directly below, with live music late at night. Stop talking and laughing loudly beside guest rooms in the middle of the night. Be honest and respectful, and think about the people trusting you.

There was a leak in the ceiling, so when I sat on the bunk bed, water dripped on my head. There was nowhere else to sit. The room was very basic for the price, and it seemed ideal for six people at that rate, but not for two.

For a short stay it was a good place, with a big room and AC. It had everything I needed, including complimentary coffee, hot chocolate and biscuits. The one thing I didn’t like was having no elevator and nobody to help with luggage, especially on a higher floor.

I called on the day I was due to stay and was told my booking had been cancelled. They hadn’t emailed to tell me, and there was no refund. Absolutely appalling.

I stayed by myself while going to a course outside Liverpool, and the location beside both train stations worked perfectly. Conor and Ben at reception were lovely and helpful, and switching rooms because of the noise was no problem. The rooms are comfortable and nicely finished, and it’s excellent value. You can expect some noise in such a central spot, but headphones made it manageable. I’ll stay again.
