The Blackburne Arms

We've been coming here for our Christmas get-together for several years, and it seems to get even better each time. The food is always amazing, and the cheerful, friendly staff do all they can to make the evening special. Hard to improve on something this close to perfect. Well done!

We came in for a meal after reading the reviews and were glad we did. The food was delicious. Two of us had the chicken, ham and leek pie with vegetables and gravy, while the other three ordered burgers and fries. The desserts were good, though £8 each felt a little steep. I was disappointed that chips weren't included with the pie and cost extra. It's a nice place, and it can get busy. The staff were helpful and polite, so we'd go back. I can't comment on the rooms.

Our Sunday roast was beautifully presented, tasty and a generous, honest portion. The Sticky Toffe Pudding was a lovely finish. The place has a great atmosphere, with comfortable seats and big tables, plus a good choice of ales, beers, wine and spirits. Everyone working there was smiling, kind and helpful, from the young lad behind the bar to the floor staff. Izzy looked after us perfectly. We'll be back many, many times.

The roast dinner was amazing. There was a big party in, so service was slower than it should've been, and I might miss out on dessert next time if they're busy. Still, what a little gem. I'll go back.
