The Breckfield Hotel

We were in Liverpool for a concert at Anfield and wanted somewhere nearby. There were three of us, all young women, including one who was six months pregnant. We sent our IDs when asked, and the owner knew about the pregnancy, but still requested a £300 deposit. I’d checked Booking.com reviews the day before, so at least I expected the security deposit request. We then waited almost an hour to get the door and room codes. Another couple was dealing with the same code process when we got back, after getting into the building through another guest. The room itself was clean, but unbearably hot, and the window only opened a crack. The towel rail was coming off the bathroom wall, the toilet seat was broken, and some facilities were hard to reach. The sink was tiny, about the size of a bird bath, and sat over the toilet. We took videos to protect ourselves because we worried the £300 might not be returned. We did get it back, though past reviews suggest others haven’t been so fortunate. And fitting six beds into one room doesn’t mean it’s a good idea. I’m glad we got our money back, but wouldn’t recommend staying here.

Lisa was great. We had both the building entry code and the key code before arriving, and the room was clean and quiet even though it’s right above the pub. Parking worked perfectly too. Thanks, we’ll definitely come back.

It’s older than the photos make it look, but the room was neat and perfectly fine for a short visit. Staff were friendly and check-in was fast, which helped. It’s not a luxury stay, just a decent place for a couple of nights.

The bedroom suited us well: comfortable, clean, and just right for a relaxing visit. Getting into our rooms when we arrived was simple, so there was no hassle. Everyone we met was welcoming and helpful throughout. We had no complaints and felt well cared for at the Breckfield Hotel. I’d happily recommend it for a pleasant stay.
