The Georgian Town House Hotel

The bed was very comfortable, and the rooms were clean, but there were a few problems. On arrival we couldn't find room 1 because it wasn't marked, so we wandered up and down the stairs. It was extremely cold, and the shower heater didn't work. The lady moved us to another room, but both showers we tried had broken doors, one hanging off, so shower curtains had been put up instead. We didn't see anyone during our stay, and breakfast was in the basement, apparently through what looked like a utility area.

The door wouldn't lock, so I wedged a chair behind it to feel safe, especially since we seemed to be the only guests that night. The stair light timer switched off after literally one second. There wasn't an outlet for the kettle either, so I had to unplug a lamp. The place was run-down, dirty and inconvenient. The windows were drafty and let in constant street noise. No air conditioning, a broken shower with only one temperature setting, and a clogged sink. The headboard and sheets were stained, and a fire door oddly divided the room. The listing said complimentary parking, but that meant street parking. I asked the manager if a space could be found late at night and got no response. We stayed one night, and it couldn't have been worse. How did this place get a three-star rating?

We had a lovely overnight stay in July. The room was spacious, the bed really comfortable, and tea and coffee were complimentary. Check-in at 2 p.m. was nice and early, and the cooked breakfast was included. It's an easy short walk into the city centre, and for the price it was well worth it.

I've hardly ever written a review, but these accommodations were appalling. The carpet and headboard were disgustingly dirty, the bed smelled, the pillows were hard as rocks, and the shower door was broken. The window drapes were damaged too. There was no air conditioning, which I could have managed by opening the window, except there were no screens and flies came in. The location was terrible and the service was awful, with no lobby. Honestly, the place should be bulldozed and rebuilt. I'm going to dispute the payment. It should be against the law to advertise this slum as a hotel. If zero were an option, I'd give it a three.
