The Z Hotel Liverpool

Friendly staff and small but comfortable rooms made this a really good place to stay. Join and book direct, and you get a nice selection of wine and cheese on the house each evening. The location's perfect, about five minutes from Lime Street and five from the river.

The curtains were my one gripe, they didn't shut fully, so some light got in. Otherwise, the room was an okay size and did the job, and I was impressed to find Sky and all the premium channels, which you don't often get at a hotel. The location is spot on, roughly ten minutes on foot from Lime Street station and five from the main city centre. I stayed one night and would come back.

Really good value, and much better than we expected. The hotel was clean, fresh, and in a perfect location. Service was fantastic too: the guys showed us where to park and gave us a parking voucher. We’d forgotten our charger, so reception lent us one overnight. Couldn't fault the place, and we'll be back next time we're in Liverpool.

The room was filthy and damp, with a huge dirty mark on the duvet. It was under 7 m², incredibly tiny. When I complained, staff suggested I pay for another room for my 13-year-old daughter. I said no and asked for my money back, but they refused. I had paid for two days and left less than 24 hours after arriving. Maybe this is fine for a two or three hour stay with a boyfriend or girlfriend. For a holiday with family or children, please avoid this disgusting place. It felt like a motel for a short stay, not a hotel. Don't go through what my child and I did.
